Integrations

Notra

Notra is a generative engine optimization (GEO) tool that asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini the questions your buyers ask. It shows whether you appear, who appears instead and how to fix it.

Notra Sites turns MDX files in your GitHub repository into a hosted blog and changelog on your own domain. It has a built-in Databuddy integration, so you don't need to add a script tag yourself.

How to add Databuddy to Notra

Get your Client ID

Open your Databuddy dashboard, select the website that represents your Notra site and copy the Client ID from the tracking setup screen.

Add it in Notra

In Notra, go to Sites in Studio, select your site, open Integrations and click Add Databuddy. Paste your Client ID into Client ID and switch on any of the Web vitals, Errors, Outgoing links and Interactions toggles you want.

If you manage your site from a repository, you can add the integration to blog.json instead:

blog.jsonjson
{
"$schema": "https://usenotra.com/schemas/blog.json",
"name": "Acme",
"integrations": {
  "databuddy": {
    "clientId": "YOUR_CLIENT_ID",
    "trackWebVitals": true,
    "trackErrors": true,
    "trackOutgoingLinks": true
  }
}
}

Publish and verify

Notra saves your settings as a draft of blog.json. Click Review and publish, create the pull request and merge it. Once the production deployment finishes, visit your live site and watch real-time visitors appear in your Databuddy dashboard.

Configuration options

You can set supported tracker options in blog.json, including trackAttributes, samplingRate, skipPatterns, maskPatterns and a custom scriptUrl or apiUrl if you proxy Databuddy through your own domain. The Notra Databuddy guide lists every option with its default.

Notra loads the tracker on every live page and adds Databuddy's script and ingestion hosts to your site's Content-Security-Policy, including any custom scriptUrl or apiUrl, so a proxied setup needs no extra configuration.

Custom event tracking

With trackAttributes on, you can track clicks by adding a data-track attribute to links and buttons in your MDX pages. Databuddy sends the data-track value as the event name and the element's other data-* attributes as properties:

html
<a href="/pricing" data-track="pricing_clicked" data-placement="changelog-footer">
See pricing
</a>

Troubleshooting

No data showing up

  1. Make sure you merged the pull request and the production deployment finished. Previews and local development don't send events, so test on the live site.
  2. Check that the domain on your Databuddy website matches your Notra site's domain.
  3. Test in an incognito window to rule out ad blockers and previous opt-outs.
